Threads for Boys Turns 3

Welcome to Threads for Boys. If you have been around for a while you might remember us from way back when we were stork stop. Say What?? Yep we started off as just a plain old baby store before making the transition into threads for boys! An awesome store dedicated to providing mums around the world with cool threads #justsayin

Reflecting on the past 3-5 years of being in biz as we “officially” reach our 3rd birthday as threads for boys, we sure have come a long way and I am very happy to say that we are STILL here.

It all started when I was pregnant with my first son.  I was so eager to hit the shops and start shopping for my newborn stash of cute clothes. However, I found the lack of variety and options available in stores for boys was lacking to say the least. The first thing I noticed was that I was almost being punished for not having a girl.  Every store I would walk into I was smacked in the face with pink, glitter and sparkles. Did I mention all that pink?  Once I made it through the haze of pink fog, I found one little lonely rack at the back of the store. Usually, filled with boring shades of blue, white and brown. Not to mention the stereotypical and outdated designs featuring you guessed it trucks, dinosaurs and stripes, so many stripes!

Enter Instagram. I was blown away with what I was seeing. So many cool things and talented designers and the best part is that they were other mums in business. This got me thinking if I am struggling to find clothing that’s unique, surely other boy mama’s out there were feeling the exact same way.

And So, the transition from Stork Stop to Threads for Boys began. An online store that houses amazing Australian and International brands that were unique, edgy and fun. A store that lets you stay at home in your pj’s with a glass of wine in hand and shop when it is convenient for you.

Let me just say it hasn’t been easy road. There have been many hurdles that I have had to overcome. I did not come from a retail background so everything has been a learning curve.

From the bottom of heart, I just wanted to say thanks! Thanks for sharing this journey with me. I am so blessed to have been able to share this journey with you and provide other mums of boys a place where they can shop for their boys and hang out with other boy mama’s. I hope to continue dressing your boys year after year!
